Cell Structure Flashcards
Organelles
Or tiny structures within cells you can only see them using a powerful microscope
Eukaryotic
IAre complicated and include all animal and plant cells
Prokaryotic
Or smaller and simpler e.g. bacteria
Tissues
Tissue is a group of similar cells to work together to carry out a particular function
Nucleus
contains the genetic material that controls the cells activities
Cell membrane
The membrane Forms the outer surface of the cell and controls the substances to go in and out
Cytoplasm
A gel like substance where most of the cells chemical reactions happen
Mitochondria
Small organelles where most of the reactions for aerobic respiration take place
Ribosomes
Small organelles where proteins are made in the cell
Vacuole
In plant cell
A large organelle that contains cell sap which supports the cell
Cell membrane
Controls what goes in and out
Chloroplast
allows photosynthesis to take place
Cell wall
Holds the structure
