cell signaling pt 3 Flashcards
1
Q
REceptor coupling directly to TF
A
ex: TGF-beta pathway
–>- They function as serine/threonine kinases (as opposed to a tyrosine kinase)
- The TGF-β pathway uses receptors that are heterodimers (that way you can have different combinations)
2
Q
NFKB
A
- is an important transcription factor in immune cell signaling
- Normally kept in the cytoplasm (inhibited by IκB)
- Once receptor is activated it will activate a kinase that phosphorylate IκB, targeting it for destruction
3
Q
notch signaling
A
-discovered in drosophila
-found in mammals and important during development (controls cell fate)
-Delta (signal) interacts with Notch (receptor)
- The intracellular domain of Notch can migrate to the nucleus where it will lead to the transcription of genes that control cell fate during development (what each cell will be)
