Cell Parts Flashcards
The smallest unit that can perform all life processes
Cell
A membrane bound organelle that contains the cells DNA and that has a role in processes such as growth, metabolism, and reproduction
Nucleus
Cytoplasm is a thick solution that fills each cell and is enclosed by the cell membrane. It is mainly composed of water, salts, and proteins. In eukaryotic cells, the cytoplasm includes all of the material inside the cell and outside of the nucleus.
Cytoplasm
A phospholipid layer that covers a cells surface, acts as a barrier between the inside of a cell and cells environment.
Cell Membrane
A rigid structure that surrounds the cell membrane and provides support ti the cell
Cell wall
Cell organelle that is surrounded by two membranes and that is the site of cellular respiration
Mitochondria
The organelle that processes and transported proteins and other materials out of the cell
Chloroplast
Helps make and package materials to be transported out of the cell
Golgi Complex
A system of membranes that is founded in a cells cytoplasm and that assists in the production, processing, and transport of proteins and in the production of lipids
Endoplasmic Reticulum
Cell organelle composed of RNA and protein
Ribosome
The organelle that digests food particles, wastes, cell parts, and foreign invaders
Lysosome
The organelle that stores water and other materials
Vacuole
