Cell Introduction Flashcards
Nucleus
🔹contains genetic material (DNA)🔹initiates protein synthesis which regulates metabolism 🔹controls what happens in the cell
Cytoplasm
🔹Consists of protein scaffold called the cytoskeleton- cellular integrity. 🔹Aqueours solution called the cytol. 🔹Cytol where the majority of cellular metabolism occurs. 🔹w/i the cytoplasm where the organelles are situated
Cell membrane
🔹impermeable to the osmetic 🔹defines cell against environment 🔹enables the cells to regulate internal environment. 🔹made up of an arrangement of Phospholipid molecules
Main features of eukaryotic cell
Nucleus…..Cell membrane…..Cytoplasm
A cell
A cell is the smallest biological unit that can live independently
All organisms
🔸metabolise 🔹reproduce 🔸growth and repair 🔹respiration 🔸specific boundaries
Protein
🔺proteins cause the development of observable characteristics within an organisms (phenotype)
