metaplasia is considered causing an altered pathway of differentiation for stem cells

spherically empty space within the cytoplasm, lipid sometimes displace the nucleus

alcohol, malnutrition, obesity, toxic damage and intestinal bypasses

grossly: pale= coagulative necrosis, darkly discolored = hemorrhagic infarct; scars appear white
microscopic: inflammation, neutrophilic infiltration, darker or loss of nucleies; scars made of collagen
