Cell Division Flashcards
1
Q
What happens in first growth stage in the cell cycle?
A
Proteins are made. Organelles are made and replicated. The cell increases in size.
2
Q
Why do erythrocytes have a biconcave disc?
A
So that more haemoglobin and mitochondria can fit. Also to increase surface area and maximise diffusion
3
Q
How are sperm cells adapted for fertilisation?
A
They have a flagellum for movement. Lots of mitochondria for energy. Acrosome has digestive enzymes to allow entry into egg.
4
Q
How is a muscle cell adapted for its function?
A
Lots of mitochondria for energy. Contains proteins used during sliding filament theory.
