Cell Cycle (Interphase & Mitosis) Flashcards
When a cell undergoes growth & duplication of DNA to prep for next Cell division, & if not actively dividing the cell carry out normal cellular func. (NOT part of Mitosis)
Interphase
Cellular contents excluding chromos. are DUPLICATED
G1 phase
Each of 46 chromos. is duplicated by cell
S phase
Cell “double checks” duplicated chromos for error, makes needed REPAIRS
G2 phase
Nuclear division, produce 2 daughter cells, each w/same number & kinds of chromos. as parent cell
Mitosis
Chromatin condense to form visible chromos. + Nuclear envelope DISINTENGRATES + Spindle apparatus formas + Nucleolus disappears
Prophase
Chromos. align on Metaphase plate
Metaphase
Chromos. SPLIT & daughter chromos. migrate to poles + cell ELONGATES, Cytokinesis start
Anaphase
Chromos. reach poles, Nuclear envelope reforms + chromos. unwind to Chromatin, Cytokinesis DIVIDES Cytoplasm + Nucleolus REAPPEARS
Telophase
(splitting of cells Cytoplasm into 2 parts) DIVIDES Cytoplasm of cell thru a Cleavage furrow/ Cell plate
Cytokineses
Made of 2 Chromatids held at center by Centromere
Chromosomes
Part of chromo. attached to it w/ a Centromere
Chromatids
Constricted pt of the chromo.
Centromere
Microtubule-based struct. responsible fro chromo. segregation during Cell division , consists; Asters, Centrioles, Spindle fibers
Mitotic apparatus
Pts of radiating fibers at each end (pole) of cell
Asters
