Cell Cycle Flashcards
In this process the cell grows and replicates its DNA and centrioles.
Interphase
In this process of Mitosis the chromatin condenses into chromosomes. The centrioles separate, and a spindle begins to form. The nuclear envelope breaks down.
Prophase
In this process of Mitosis the chromosomes line up across the center of the cell. Each chromosome is connected to a spindle fiber at its centromere.
Metaphase
In this process of Mitosis the sister chromatids separate into individual chromosomes and are moved apart.
Anaphase
The chromosomes gather at opposite ends of the cell and lose their distinct shapes. Two new nuclear envelopes will form.
Telophase
This process occurs after mitosis finishes, and the cytoplasm divides to form new daughter cells.
Cytokinesis
Programmed cell death
Apoptosis
A series of events cells go through as they grow and divide.
the cell cycle
what are the two phases of the cell cycle?
interphase and cell division
What are the three phases interphase is divided into?
G1, S, and G2.
This phase in interphase is a period of activity where cells will do most of their growing.
G1
This phase in interphase is where chromosomes are replicated and the synthesis of DNA molecules take place.
S phase
This phase in interphase many of the of the organelles and molecules required for cell divison are produced.
G2
Two tiny structures located in the cytoplasm near the nuclear envelope.
Centrioles
A fanlike microtubule structure that helps seperate chromosomes.
