Cell Calculation Flashcards
Fill in the blanks
The “_____ “ of a microscope depends both on its ________ and _____
Power
Magnification
Resolution
What are the 2 main types of microscope todays scientists use
Light microscope Electron microscope
Fill in the blanks
The ____ the resolution of a microscope the greater the ______ you can see
Higher
Detail
A microscope has an eyepiece with a magnification of 10x and the objective lens has a magnification of 20x what is the total magnification
Eyepiece = 10X
objective lens = 20x
Total magnification = 10 x 20
=200x
How do you get the total magnification
Total magnification = Eyepiece x objective
How do you get the apparent size
Apparent size = magnification x actual size
An object is observed using this magnification (200x) It has an actual size of 0.01mm but what is its apparent size under the microscope
Actual size = 0.01m
Magnification = 200x
So apparent size = 200 x 0.01
=2mm
What is 1 Millimeter equal to micrometers
1mm = 1000|UM
How do you convert mm to micrometer
Times by 1000
What would 17mm be in micrometers
17000
What would 240micrometers be in mm
0.24
What would 16000 micrometers in mm be
16mm
What would 2mm be in micrometers
2000
How do you calculate cell size
- Convert diameter to micrometers
(If required ) - Count the number of cells you can see going from one side to another
- Decide the diameter of the fiell of view by the number of cells
Look notes on average length of one bacterium and work 1 out
