CELL BASICS Flashcards
what is the 7 characteristics of living organism
- cell and organization
- energy use and metabolism
3.respond to enviromental changes - regulation and homeostasis
- reproduction
- growth and development
- biological adaption and evaluation
name all the taxonomy
domain, kingdom, phylum, class, order, family, genus, species
for standardize naming, what do i capitalize?
capitalize genus, not species. so the name will be Genus Species.
name me the 3 domains and kingdom
3 domains will be : bacteria, archaea, eukarya and the 6 kingdoms are eubacteria, archaea bacteria, protista, plantae, animalia and fungi
domain bacteria, what environment does it adapt to
it adapts to all enviroment
domain archaea, what environment does it adapt to
it adapts to extreme enviroment like hot spring, volcano , acidic enviroment, salty lake
state the main differences between prokaryotic and eukaryotic cells.
prokaryotic cell has a membarane-bound nucleus containing genetic material and membrane enclosed organelles while eukaryotic cell has no true nucleus and its genetic material is in cytoplasm with no enclosing membrane
what does prokaryotic cell not have?
it does not have nucleus, mitochondria, vacuole and golgi apparatus
what are the organelles animal cell have that plant cell don’t
lysosome and centrosomes
what are the organelles plant cell have but animal cell don’t
cell wall, chloroplast and alrge central vacuole
cells are made up of 4 main marcomolecules , what are those molecule
proteins, lipids, nucleic acids and carbohydrates
what does prokaryotic and eukaryotic cell undergo for reproduction
Prokaryotic : binary fission
Eukaryotic : mitosis
what’s the different between prokaryotic and eukaryotic dna?
prokaryotic dna : ciruclar dna
eukaryotic dna : condenses into chromosomes
over 90% of human body is made up of 6 atoms
- carbon (c)
- nitrogen (n)
- oxygen (o)
- hydrogen (H)
- phosphate (P)
- sulfur (S)
