Cell Flashcards
Basic unit of life
Cell
Smallest structure that is capable of performing all functions necessary for life
Cell
2 types of cells
Eukaryotic and prokaryotic cells
A complex cell that has a true nucleus and various membrane-bound organelles that perform specific functions.
Eukaryotic cells
Simple cells that lack a nucleus and other membrane-bound organelles. It has a cell membrane, cell wall, and a cytoplasm but does not have a true nucleus.
Prokaryotic cells
Give some characteristics of cells
-Microscopic
-Complex
-have genetical material
-Can reproduce
-Have cell membrane
-Uses energy
-responds to stimuli
