shows Muslims are devoted to God- too are willing to sacrifice their lives for God

- sheep or goat sacrificed- reminder. meat shared
- go to mosque for prayers, best clothes, thank Allah for blessings, give zakah

A
started by Prophet Muhammad. marks end of Ramadan and end of fasting.
thank Allah for revealing Qur’an (revealed towards end of Ramadan)
thank for strength to exercise self-control during Ramadan

A
- best clothes, decorate homes, spend time with family and friends
- some give money to poor
- communal celebrations and celebratory meal
