  • approach the vehicle: notice general condition. Look for damage or vehicle leaning to one side. Look under the vehicle for fresh oil, coolant, grease, or fuel leaked. Check for hazards near vehicle
    1. Vehicle overview: review last vehicle inspection report.
    2. Check engine compartment ( check that parking breaks are on and wheels are chocked).: engine oil level, coolant level in radiator;condition of hose, power steering fluid level and hose, windshield washer fluid level, battery fluid level connections and tie down, automatic transition fluid level, belts for.tightness and excessive wear, leaks in the engine compartment, bad wiring, then secure hood in closed position.
    3. Start engine and inspect inside the cab: make sure parking break is on, put gear shit in park, start engine and listen, check ABS indicator lights, look at gauges, oil pressure, air pressure, coolant temp, engine oil.temp, warning lights and buzzers, steering wheel, clutch, gas pedal, break controls, transmission controls, horns, windshield wiper, lights and signals, mirrors, and emergency equipment, seat belts.
    4. Turn off engine and check lights: turn off lights, ensure parking break is on, remove key and take it with you, check all lights around vehicle.
    5. Do walk around inspection: clean all lights, reflectors, and glass as you go. 360 degrees around.
    6. Check signal lights: have a helper look at all lights as you change through them.
    7. Start the engine and check: test for hydraulic leaks ( pump break pedal 3 times then apply firm pressure and hold for 5 secs), check safety belts, check breaking system.
