Jauhar et al
Revised 34 studies using CBT and found evident for small but significant effects on both positive and negative symptoms. Provides scientific evidence supporting CBT, as an effective treatment for SZ showing it can reduce symptoms. SMALL effective size suggests it shouldn’t be one standalone treatment.
Only 13% of patients were offered CBT: HADDOCK.
Highlights significant issues in accessing psychological treatments suggesting many patients are unable to receive cbt due to limitations in healthcare resources funding or availability of health care professionals.
CBT may improve the quality of life, but does not cure the disorder.
Psychological treatments only manage the symptoms of the disorder, it isn’t a cure, A combo of drugs and therapy may be needed for optimal management of SZ.
