Part-time & temporary jobs leave people underemployed and it limits how much they can earn.
How are women discriminated against when it comes to promotions and what is the effective?
Women are discriminated when it comes to promotions, which prevents them from higher paying positions. This leads to women going to women dominated industries, overtime this causes the labour markets in these industries to be over saturated as a result the supply shifts to the right causing a reduction in the wage rate.
Furthermore, these industries are already low-level paid jobs or part-time jobs.
Why does the wage gap between men and women exist?
It can be due to career breaks and less hours worked in comparison to men.
How do the government intervene to resolve the gender wage gap?
Government implements equal pay laws, however these laws are difficult to enforce. Thus women still get paid less than men.

The gap between women and men wages for the same job. Recently, the wage gap has been narrowing.
