- when young ppl have families they move to outer suburbs: more space, safer lifestyle, often cheaper housing
- older families w adolescent children may move to inner suburbs: career progresses so higher income to spend on more expensive housing
- retirement age: move to periphery w quieter areas + higher cost housing

A
- may segregate ppl of diff ages + incomes: where housing limited, richer ppl can afford to buy houses but poorer ppl can’t = inc house prices more = hard for young families to buy own home
- areas w lots of older ppl migrating to = issues from older pop (e.g. more healthcare needed)
- crime + burglary may concentrate within inner city: where LI ppl live
