In November 1569 the Duke of Norfolk broke out a plan to marry Mary to have her recognised as Elizabeths heir
When the plan was uncovered the Earls were scared to be executed so they resorted to the plan to rebel and overthrow Elizabeth
What was the result of the Northern Earls
MQS imprisoned
Northumberland executed and so were 400 troops
How did this effect Elizabeth (NE)
Major threat to Elizabeth and one of the most serious rebellions
It created fear to English protestants
Led to the excommunication of Elizabeth
