what stages of pressure ulcer in perineal or sacral area to be catheterized?
ONLY stage III and IV
if prostate problems, remember (2):
administer analgesic
use size 14 catheter or obtain an order for a smaller size if an order for larger catheter is given

7-9 inches (17-22.5 cm) or until urine flows
once urine flows, stop with a straight catheter, continue until bifurcation with an indwelling
if pt unable to void 8 hrs after cath removal
do bladder scan then call MD
pt only able to void small amt frequently after removal and states bladder does not empty?
bladder scan with a residual volume greater than 150mL twice, you should be concerned and call MD (indicative of a UTI)
CBI how to measure actual urine output?
subtract total amount of irrigation fluid infused from the total volume drained into basin
open method of catheter irrigation
(disconnect drainage tubing and irrigation fluid flows out into basin)
used for intermittent irrigation
