When a cataract is replaced by an artificial lens
What is the most common type of cataract?
Nuclear sclerotic cataracts
What type of cataract can occur in people who are on steroids or who have diabetes? Which part of the lens does this affect?

Back of lens on the inner surface of the capsule
Which type of cataracts affect vision more anterior or posterior?
Posterior as the back of the lens is closer to the nodal point and so has more refractive power
What diseases can causes lens dislocations?
Marfan’s Syndrome
Homocystinurea
What is the inheritance pattern in homocystinurea and what does it result in?
Autosomal recessive which results in the lack of the enzyme that converts homocysteine to cystathionine
Aside from drop in acuity what is the major visual complaint of people who have cataracts?
Glare. bring sun or car headlights become a problem.
