Masseter
Origin - Zygomatic Arch
Insertion - Mandible
Elevates the mandible
Greater Omentum
Membrane covering organs within abdominal cavity
Diaphragm
Muscle separating the abdominal and thoracic cavity. Aids in the breathing process
Liver
Cat has 5 different lobes. Produces bile and other digestive juices
Gall Bladder
Stores bile which would then be transported to the duodenum
Stomach
Digests food
Small Intestine
3 parts: duodenum, jejunum, and ileum.
Function: chemical digestion and nutrient absorption
Large Intestine
Cecum (in humans), at the beginning of the large intestine, is where appendix would extend
3 parts: colon, transverse colon, and descending colon
Funtion: Absoroption of water and certain vitamins
Pancreas
Secretes digestive enzymes breaking down fats, starches, and proteins. Produces insulin regulating blood glucose levels
Spleen
Circulatory system
Fight infection, produces blood cells, filter blood
Kidney
Remove waste products from blood and regulate water fluid levels
Urinary Bladder
Organ of the urinary system
Expand and contract depending on the amount of urine
Larynx
An air passageway
It prevents food from entering the lower respiratory tract by way of the epiglottis
Trachea
Can be identified by it’s c-shaped cartilage rings
It cleans, warms, and moistens incoming air
Bronchi
An area of gas exchange between the lungs and circulatory system
Lungs
(In Cats)
The right lung has four lobes and the left lung has three lobes
The main organ of gas exchange
Esophagus
Carries food to the stomach by muscular contractions
