Pro-they were easy to build
Con-they were made of wood which means they could catch fire easily
What are the pros and cons of stone castles?
Pro-they were harder to attack and destroy than wooden castles
Con-they took a lot longer to build than wooden castles
Why did the Normans build stone castles?
Because they were build to last and they were stronger than the motte and Bailey ones.

Drawbridge, moat, gatehouse, portcullis, arrow slits, castle walls, the keep and the murder holes.
Can you name six ways to attack a stone castle?
You could use a battering ram, a catapult, you could mine, place the castle under siege, use a pic axe to break through thin walls and you could use a ballista.
Why did the Normans build castles?
Because he needed to keep control.
