A
- That despite the improvements many of these didn’t benefit the original ‘eastenders’
- Many locals were unable to afford the high costs of new expensive houses

- Docks were closed in 1981 as ships had got too big to come up the thames
- The docks were badly bombed during WW2
- 20,000 jobs were lost to the docks
