A

Aching and stiffness of shoulder and hip girdle region
ESR or CRP often very high
Responds within 72 hours to low dose prednisone
About 1/3 associated with temporal arteritis

May/may not have swelling and/or tenderness of temporal artery
Jaw claudication can be present
High ESR characteristic
Emergency because can go blind very fast
Tx with prednisone
