Case 7: e-Health systems Flashcards
What is social-technical systems design?
design & performance of any organisational system can only be understood and improved if both ‘social’ and ‘technical’ aspects are brought together and treated as interdependent parts of a complex syste
What is “internet of things”?
concept involving connecting everyday objects to internet & allowing them to communicate and exchange data with other devices and systems.
What is AI?
ability of digital machines to perform takss commonly associated with intelligent beings
What is big data?
large data sets used to reveal patterns, trends and associations
What is a digital platform?
software-based online infrastructure that facilitates interactions & transactions between users.
What is VR?
computer-generated environment appearing to be real, making user feel they are immersed in their context
What is a block chain?
distributed databasethat maintains a continuisly growing list of ordered records called blocks.
What is STS-D thinking?
Social-technical systems design
developed into an approach for designing productive, humane and innovative workplaces and organisations
What is digital technology?
umbrella term referring to technology that relies on use of microprocessors (algorithms etc.) to store, process and interpret digitised data
E.g. smart devices, robotics, AI, machine learning, IoT, big data, block chains etc.
What are 3 perspectives related to digital technology?
- technological areas
- features in whcih digital technologies have been developed
- digital transofrmation as part of the fourth industrial revolution
Explain health 4.0
challenges posed by 4IR require a new approach to organising healthcare systems → advanced IT and increasingly used of sophisticated medical devices, genetic engineering, nanotechnology, robotics, extensive databases interlinking to form a single system ensuring smooth flow of information and data in real time
What is 4IR?
current and developing environment in which disruptive technologies and trends such as the Internet of Things (IoT), robotics, virtual reality (VR) and artificial intelligence (AI) are changing the way modern people live and work
What are the 3 phases of digital technology revolution?
- Digitisation
- Digitalisation
- transformation
What is digitisation?
transform from analogue data media (paper) into digital media
What is digitalisation?
adapting digital technology to business processes
