Describe two past ops and 2 lessons learned from each operation

A

Hue City-Most fiercely fought battle of Tet Offensive. Artillery, bombs, napalm prohibited. Characterized by heavy US losses(147 dead), house to house fighting, and 40% of the city eventually destroyed. LL-Tactical events can have strategic consequences, Technological advantages diminish with urban fighting.

Gronzy-Russians entered city through one avenue of approach. Characterized by Russians using air strikes only as a scare tactic, rebels using concealment, surpise, and knowledge of the city. Chechen’s utilized a ‘hug the enemy’ tactic that made them very effective. LL- Airpower should not be used as a show of force. Loss of surprise can be very damaging
