Cartilage, Bone, CT Flashcards
Function of fibroblasts
Synthesise ECM, collagen, elastin, they are immature cells
Components of CT
Fibroblasts - produce ECM, collagen, osteocytes, chondrocytes, adipose, macrophages
What are Adipocytes?
They synthesise and stole lipids, can be uni/multi ocular
What immune cells are in CT
Mast cells, macrophages, plasma cells
What are the 6 soft types of CT (4 loose, 2 dense)
Areolar, adipose, reticular, synovial membrane
Regular, irregular
Types of Skeletal CT
Cartilage- hyaline, fibrous and elastic
Bone
Dental
What is specialised CT
Blood + lymphoid
What is Osteoarthritis
Slow degeneration of hyaline cartilage due to wear and tear
What is rheumatoid arthritis
Aggressive autoimmune condition attacking synovial membrane and hyaline cartilage
What is tendonitis, bursitis and tenosynovitis?
Inflammation of a tendon (over use), inflammed bursa (worn, infected, or trauma), inflammed synovial sheath
How does hyaline receive nutrients without a blood supply
Accelerated diffusion from surrounding bones during movement
