LEVELS OF THE PSYCHE
Conscious
Personal Unconscious
Collective Unconscious
images that are sensed by the ego. Remember that unconscious images have no relationship with the ego.
Conscious

Personal Unconscious
has roots in the ancestral past of the entire species.
Collective Unconscious

Archetypes

ANIMA

ANIMUS
always associated with both positive (fertility and nourishment) and negative (power and destruction) feelings.
GREAT MOTHER
is the product of the combination of fertility and power
REBIRTH
archetype of wisdom and meaning; This symbolizes humans’ preexisting knowledge of the mysteries of life.
WISE OLD MAN
represented in mythology and legends as a powerful person, sometimes part god, who fights against great odds to conquer or vanquish evil in the form of dragons, monsters, serpents, or demons; they all have tragic flaws.
HERO
an innate, inherited disposition or tendency to move toward growth, perfection, and completion. It is considered the archetype of archetypes because it pulls together the other archetypes and unites them in the process of self-realization. The mandala is the ultimate symbol this.

The four separate functions
thinking, feeling, sensing, and intuiting.
It is a predisposition to act or react in a characteristic (unique) direction.
Attitudes
turning inward of psychic energy with an orientation toward the subjective.
INTROVERSION
turning outward of the psychic energy so that a person is oriented toward the objective and away from the subjective.
EXTRAVERSION
logical intellectual activity that produces a chain of ideas.
THINKING
the process of evaluating an idea or event; some say that instead of this, the more appropriate term to be used is valuing.
FEELING
the function of receiving physical stimuli and transmitting them to perceptual consciousness. It is not similar to physical stimulus but is simply the individual’s perception of sensory impulses.
SENSING
perception beyond the workings of consciousness. it is more creative compared to sensing, often adding or subtracting elements from conscious sensation.
INTUITING
