Q

What does it mean for baby to be active not passive?

Q

When does synchrony begin and according to who?

A
  • Meltzoff and Moore observed intersectional synchrony in babies as young as two weeks old
  • An adult displayed 1 of 3 facial expressions - babies expression and gestures were more likely to mirror those of the adults more than chance would predict

Q

What was found on the link between attachment and interactional synchrony?

A
  • Isabella found that high levels of interactional synchrony were associated with better mother-baby attachment quality

Q

What is one strength that increases the validity of the research done on care-giver infant interactions?

A
  • They are usually filmed when done in labs, allows them to be analysed more easily and makes peer review more accessible therefore making the research more valid and reliable

Q

What is one issue with babies that limits the reliability of the research?

A
  • It is hard to interpret a babies behaviour, they lack coordination and can be immobile and so the movements being observed are small, also although we can infer we cannot know for sure the reasoning behind a babies actions

Q

What type of experiment was conducted, how could that be a limitation?

A
  • Lab experiment, an unnatural environment for a baby that may cause it act out of the ordinary and as the parents know it is an experiment they may be prone to demand characteristics or just act out of the ordinary which would, in turn affect the babies behaviour
