Testers and repair, inventory, electricians, carpenters, welders, truck loadersall
Touring crew
These guys aren’t in the warehouse, they travel with the tour; consists of assistant engineers, etc
Do touring crews usually include mixers?
No, because the mixers are usually personally selected by the artist going on tour
Theatre is similar to
Concert Touring; it takes many people to pull off the show
What are some different jobs in Theatre?
Sound designer, musical director, board operator, etc.
How is Nightclub scene different from concert touring and theatre?
Nightclubs, you will typically be on your own, and you need to be a “jack of all trades”
What jobs would you be doing if you worked in a Nightclub?
Loader, electrician (minimal basic stuff), set-up crew, sound man, and also some lighting
Church
Similar to night club, you need to be a “jack of all trades”
What jobs/requirements are common in Church sound?
May also have to help with video, recording, podcasts; streaming the service, network audio, and be an overall nice person to work with
Corporate Audio
Its own world; sound company may provide the mixer for the event
What sort of gigs are there for Corporate Audio?
Hotels, conference centres, events/business meetings, weddings, corporate events for major companies, e.g. Red Bull, Nike, Microsoft
Sound system installation
Self-explanatory lol
Broadcast Audio
Sound for TV; sports, etc. Radio, etc.
Possible jobs within Broadcast Audio?
Running power wires, coordinating wireless channels, system engineer, mixers
Sales Service/Retail
Not at Guitar Center lol
Sales rep for products not available in a music store, e.g. Yamaha, AVID, I-Acoustics
What does a Sales Service rep do?
Sell lol, and may even travel across country visiting studios to show off gear, or go on tours that are trying out new gear to offer support/sell the product by the end
Similar to pharmacology sales who visit hospitals and try to sell drugs to the doctors to use
