Cardiovascular System/ Lymphatic System Flashcards
lecture 1
cardiovascular system
heart and blood vessels
arteries
away from the heart,
O2 rich with exception of pulmonary arteries
veins
toward the heart,
O2 poor with exception of pulmonary veins
PULMONARY VEINS ARE O2 RICH
PULMONARY ARTERIES ARE O2 POOR
.
capillaries
connect arterial and venous sides of circulation
Lymphatic system functions
-provides for drainage of surplus tissue fluid and leaked plasma proteins to the blood stream and for removal of cellular debris and infection
- absorption and transport of dietary fat
- defense mechanism of the body
right lymphatic duct
drains lymph from the body’s upper right quadrant
(right head, neck, thorax, and right limb)
ends in right subclavian vein at junction with right internal jugular veins= right venous angle
thoracic duct
drains lymph from the rest of the body
ends in left internal jugular and left subclavian veins= left venous angle
