Cardiovascular System Flashcards
Delivers oxygen to all cells and carries away waste.
Systemic Circulation
Layers of the heart.
Pericardium
Epicardium
Myocardium
Endocardium
Discribe a drop of blood through the body starting from the largest artery.
From the Aorta to the Arteries then to the Arteriols and onto the Capullaries. Then the Venules to the Veins to the Inferior and Superior Vena Cava, into the Right Atrium through the Tricuspid Valve into the Right Ventricle up through the Pulmonary Valve into the Pulmonary Artery. Through to the lungs and around the Alveoli then to the Pulmonary Veins into the Left Atrium down the Mitral Valve into the Left Ventricle and up through the Aortic Valve to the Aorta.
Label the the structures of the Artery and Vein
Lumen: the interior lining of both, the passage way for the blood
Valve: only the veins have Valves
Tunica Interna: the outer lining of the Lumen
Connective tissue: outer lining of the Lumen (elastic collagenous fibers)
Tunica media: the outer lining of the connective tissue
Tunica externa: outer most lining of both
White Blood cells are known as… and have two types.
Leukocytes: Agranular and Granular
Platelets are known as and are responsible for?
Thrombocytes
Are responsible for blood clotting
Platelets, Thrombocytes and Leucocytes are transported through this substance
Plasma
The main artery of the body
Aortic Artery
