cardiovascular system Flashcards
what is the function of cardiovascular system
circulate blood through body and remove waste products like co2
traceroute blood cells through your circulatory and respiratory system
Deoxygenated blood that is from the body cell will be carried through the superior or inferior vena cava.
The deoxygenated blood will go to the right atrium.
Deoxygenated blood will have to go through the valves in order to enter the right ventricle.
deoxygenated blood goes through another valve in order to be carried by the pulmonary artery.
From the pulmonary artery oxygen poor blood enters the lungs and picks up a new supply of oxygen and gets rid of carbon dioxide.
After the blood becomes oxygenated from the lungs, it is carried back to the heart by the pulmonary veins to the left atrium.
From the left atrium, the oxygenated blood will be carried through the valves into the left ventricles.
The oxygen rich blood moving in the left ventricle passes through the aortic valve and will go into the aorta.
The aorta will distribute the oxygen rich blood throughout the body.
Gas exchange happens through capillaries and deoxygenated blood is picked up again
this blood goes back to the heart into the superior or inferior vena cava and repeats
what is 3 different layers in heart
myocardium,epicardium,endocardium
myocardium
thick layer of cardiac muscle responsible for contraction and relaxation of ventricles
epicardium
outside of myocardium ,covered by thin layer consist mostly of connective and tissue fat
endocardium
inner heart lining, smooth membrane that lines chmaber and valves of heart
inflamed perdicardium caled
pericardium is heart enclosed in bag and it is a tough membrane when inflame dit is a disease called pericarditis
how does heart supply itself
coronary arteries supply oxygenated blood to the heart with help of arota
anthersclerosis
build-up of fats and cholesterol on artery wall
pulomary
moves blood form heart to lungs
systemic
moves blood form heart to body
