increased - fluid overload, RVF, tricuspid regurgitation
Face inspection
conjunctival pallor
corneal arcus - hypercholesteraemia
xanthelasma - hypercholesteraemia
central cyanosis
angular stomatitis - iron deficiency
high arched palate - increased risk of aortic dissection/aneurysm
dental hygiene - infective endocarditis risk factor
Chest inspection
scars - thoracotomy, sternotomy, clavicular, left mid-axillary line
chest wall deformities - pacts excavated/carinatum
visible pulsations - apex: hypetension, ventricular hypertrophy
Chest palpation
Apex beat - cardiomegaly
Heaves
Thrills - palpable murmur
Auscultation
Aortic (plus sit forward, end expiration)

Mitral (left lateral position, inspiration)

Dipstick urine - proteinuria/haematuria - hypertension
Bedside BM - diabetes
Fundoscopy - maligna hypertension, papilloedema
