describe koilinichia?
A
It refers to abnormally thin nails (usually of the hand) which have lost their convexity, becoming flat or even concave in shape.
——-opposite of nail clubbing.
dystrophy of the nails in which they are abnormally thin and concave from side to side, with the edges turned up.

causes of koilinichia?
A
—-iron deficiency and
—–other systemic conditions in rare case reports;
——–however, it is more commonly seen as an occupational change in nails and may be idiopathic.
——Ruling out iron deficiency anemia in someone with koilonychia is the only work-up necessary in this condition.
