Cardiovascular Drugs Flashcards
A condition in which the blood vessels have a chronically elevated pressure, commonly known as high or increased blood pressure.
Hypertension
The pressure of blood against the artery walls in your body.
Blood Pressure
Medications that aid in lowering the body’s water retention.
Diuretics
Medications that stimulate the sympathetic nervous system.
Adrenergic Drugs
A heartbeat that is unusually rapid that occurs when the pulse or heartbeat exceeds 100 beats per minute
Supraventricular Tachycardia
An occurrence of an irregular heartbeat, called arrhythmia. The top chambers (atria) of the heart experience extremely fast pumping as a result of a short circuit.
Atrial Flutter
A cardiac rhythm condition (arrhythmia) that is unsteady and frequently very fast and can cause blood clots to form in the heart.
Atrial Fibrillation
Medications that enlarge blood arteries, facilitating easier blood flow through them
Vasodilators
Is classified by a deep, poorly localized chest or arms that are reproductively linked to stress or physical exercise.
Chronic Stable Angina
Coronary heart disease brought on by the accumulation of plaque inside the arteries.
Unstable Angina
Refers to a kind of angina brought on by coronary artery spasm and characterized by a sudden occlusive vasoconstriction of an epicardial arterial segment, resulting in a significant decrease in coronary blood flow1.
Vasospastic Angina
A long-term, progressive disorder where the heart’s ability to pump blood to the body’s demands for oxygen and blood is compromised.
Heart Failure
Are a broad class of drugs that strengthen the contraction of the heart muscle.
Positive Inotropic Drugs
Accelerates the rate of impulse generation in the SA node, which raises heart rate.
Positive Chronotropic Drugs
