Myocardial Infarction (MI)
A
Definition: Commonly known as a heart attack; occurs when blood flow to part of the heart is blocked.
Diagnostic Tools: ECG, blood tests for elevated levels of troponin (a protein).

Ischaemia
A
Definition: Reduced blood flow that can lead to tissue damage.
Example: Coronary ischaemia may cause angina or a heart attack.

Electrocardiogram (ECG/EKG)
A
Definition: A test measuring the heart’s electrical activity.
Use: Diagnoses arrhythmias, heart attacks, or other heart conditions.

Creatine Phosphokinase (CPK)
A
Definition: An enzyme; high levels can indicate muscle damage, including in the heart.
Example: Checked in patients suspected of having a heart attack.
