Cardiovascular Flashcards
1
Q
CABG
A
- can significantly improve blood flow to the cardiac muscle, relieve angina symptoms, and reduce the risk of myocardial infarction
- can also improve overall heart function and quality of life for many clients.
2
Q
coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG)
A
- a cardiothoracic surgeon takes a healthy blood vessel (usually from the client’s chest, leg, or arm) and uses it to create a bypass graft
- The graft is then connected above and below the blocked or narrowed portion of the coronary artery, allowing blood to flow freely to the heart muscle through the newly created pathway.
