Cardiovascular Flashcards
Medication for coronary artery stenting
DAPT for one year, then aspirin only
A person is classified as having stage 1 hypertension if ABPM is
135/85 mmHg or greater but less than 150/95 mmHg
Types of end organ damage
Left ventricular hypertrophy, renal damage or hypertensive fundal changes.
Amiodarone side effects
Amiodarone contains iodine and can cause both hypothyroidism and hyperthyroidism. Thyroid function tests should be carried out before treatment and every six months.
This person has gained weight, has become very tired and feels the cold a lot.
Digoxin toxicity
This person has developed nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, disorientation, and weakness.
This person has developed a rash when exposed to sunshine.
Amiodarone
Drugs for treating stable angina
Offer either a beta blocker or a calcium channel blocker
If the person’s symptoms are not satisfactorily controlled on a beta blocker or a calcium channel blocker, consider either switching to the other option or using a combination of the two.
Diltiazem use in angina
Can be used in patients for whom beta-blockers are contra-indicated or ineffective. However, because of the risk of bradycardia, it should be used with caution in association with beta-blockers.
Diagnosis of STEMI on ECG
An ST elevation greater than 1mm in two or more anatomically contiguous leads or new left bundle branch block
Treatment of intermittent claudication when supervised exercise has not led to satisfactory improvement and the patient prefers not to be referred for consideration of angioplasty or bypass surgery.
Naftidrofuryl oxalate
All patients with heart failure due to left ventricular systolic dysfunction should be considered for treatment with
ACE inhibitor
Digoxin in heart failure
improves the symptoms of heart failure and exercise tolerance but does not reduce mortality.
What can abnormal P wave morphology indicate
Atrial enlargement
What are the ECG features of WPW
Short PR interval (accessory pathway)
Delta wave
