What is checked when looking at the hands ?
Clubbing
Peripheral cyanosis
Cigarette tar stains
Radial pulse
What is checked in the face ?
Pale conjunctiva
Dry mouth
Central cyanosis
Which lymph nodes are examined ?
Supraclavicular Submandibular and submental Post and pre - auricular Anterior and posterior cervical Occipital
What is inspected on the chest in a resp exam ?
Asymmetry
Scars
Shape / deformities
What is palpated in a resp exam ?
Trachea
Chest expansion
What is auscultated in a resp exam ?
Breath sounds
Vocal resonance
What should be performed to complete a respiratory exam ?
Temp
Peak flow
Examine any sputum
After checking radial pulse for rate and rhythm what can be done next ?
Check both pulses for radial delay
Raise above head to check for a collapsing pulse
Where is the brachial pulse located ?
Medial to the Bicep tendon
In a cardio exam what can indicate a valvular problem ?
Malar rash - mitral valve disease
When viewing the JVP how is it viewed ?
Lie at 45 degree angle
Look left
Internal jugular vein
What can be listened t if there is suspected heart failure ?
Check for pulmonary oedema
