Cardiomyopathies Flashcards
1
Q
- Asx to dyspnea, angina, syncope, arrhythmias, systolic crescendo-decrescendo murmur
- Genetic disorder of inappropriate LV/septal &/or RV hypertrophy
A
Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy
2
Q
- MC cardiomyopathy
- HF symptoms; rales; tachycardia; cough, increased JVP
- Systolic dysfunction–>ventricular dilation–>dilated/weakened heart
- MC idiopathic
- TX: HF tx–>ACEI, diruetics, etc.
A
Dilated
3
Q
- Sx: R sided HF sxs, tachyarrythmias, increased JVP w/ inspiration
- Impaired diastolic dysfunction w/preserved contractility–> ventricular rigidity impedes filling
- Symptomatic tx
A
Restrictive
4
Q
MC valves affected in rheumatic heart Dz
A
1) Mitral
2) Aortic
5
Q
- MC viral
- Sx: Sharp, substernal pleuritis, radiating pain, often relieved sitting forward. Worse with inspiration. friction Rub, fever
A
Pericarditis
6
Q
- MC viral
- Sx: HF sx’s
- Dx: CXR (cardiomegaly), cardiac enzymes, biopsy=gold standard
A
Myocarditis
