cardiac output 266 Flashcards
Cardiac output
stroke volume(SV)x heart rate(HR)
Fick principle
CO= Rate of O2 consumption/arterial O2 content–venous O2 content
Mean Arterial pressure(MAP)
CO X total peripheral resistance(TPR)
2/3diastolic pressure+1/3 systolic pressure
Pulse pressure
systolic pressure – diastolic pressure
pulse pressure is proportional to SV, inversely proportional to arterial compliance
Stroke volume
end-diastolic(EDV) – end-systolic volume(ESV)
During early stage of exercise
CO is maintained by increased HR and increased SV
During late stage of exercise
CO is maintained by increased HR only (SV plateaus)
increase pulse pressure in
hyperthyroidism, aortic regurgitation, aortic stiffening(isolated systolic hypertension in elderly), obstructive sleep apnea(increased sympathetic tone), exercise(transient).
decreased pulse pressure in
aortic stenosis, cardiogenic shock, cardiac tamponade, advanced heart failure(HF)
Allantois–urachus
median umbilical ligament
urachus is part of allantoic duct between bladder and umbilicus
Ductus arteriosus
ligamentum arteriosum
ductus venous
ligamentum venousum
foramen ovale
fossa ovalis
notochord
nucleus pulposus
umbilical arteries
medial umbilical ligaments
