After looking at the volar aspect of the hands?

“Put your fingernails together”

Radial pulse

“You don’t have any pain in your shoulder at the moment do you? Okay I’m just going to raise your arm while I’m taking your pulse”
After water-hammer pulse?
Brachial pulse

Carotid pulse
“I’m just going to feel the pulse in your neck now. Let me know if it’s uncomfortable”

JVP

After JVP?
Eyes
“Look straight ahead for me and pull your eyelids down”
After eyes?
Mouth
“Open your mouth for me. Touch the roof of your mouth with you tongue”
After mouth?
Get them to take their top off and inspect chest. Remember to make them move their arms up.
After inspection of chest?
Palpate apex beat; parasternal heave; thrills in each valvular area
After palpation?
Auscultation of valvular areas
“I’m just going to listen to your chest now whilst feeling the pulse in your neck”
