What happens in Atrial systole?

A

Blood enters into the atria through the inferior/superior vena cava and the pulmonary vein

A

Atrium contract to push blood into the ventricles, tricuspid and bicuspid valves close to ensure blood only flows into the ventricles

A

Ventricles contract to push blood into the pulmonary artery and aorta as the semilunar valves open whilst he tricuspid and bicuspid valves shut

A

A cell that can beat to its own beat, independent of the pacemaker

A

The right atrium has a lot of myogenic cells which make it the pacemaker of the heart, it sets the rate at which the rest of the heart will beat
