What happens in diastole?
The heart chambers relaxes, fills with blood from veins
what happens in atrial systole
atrial contracts, forcing blood from atria to the ventricles
What happens in ventricular systole?
When both ventricles contract forcing blood to lungs via pulmonary trunk
What does Lub mean?
when av valves close at the beginning of the ventricular systole
What does dub mean?
when semi lunar valves close and av valves open
what is a heart murmur?
abnormal sounds when a hearts valves doesn’t properly close or open
what is stroke volume?
The amount of blood ejected from each ventricle
What is heart rate?
number of times heart beats within a certain amount of time
what is cardiac output?
amount of blood pumped out of the left ventricle per unit time
what is affected in venous return? increased sympathetic innervation or increased parasympathetic innervation?
Increased sympathetic innervation
What is frank starlings law of the heart
increased venous return, stretching heart
