AR1 Tender point location
below clavicle on rib 1, lateral to manubrium
AR2 Tender point location
superior aspect of the rib, midclavicular line
AR3-10 Location
Anterior axillary line on the 3-10th ribs
axillary line of dysfunctional rib
AR 1-2 Tx

Patient supine or seated
- Lift HEAD & NECK ~40degrees
- Sidebend & Rotate Toward the side of the dysfunction
- expect abt 45 degrees of each
1 & 2y.o. can’t say the the alphabet well

Pt. seated
- Place pt’s arm on side opposite dysfunction on your knee
- Slightly Sidebend & Rotate TRUNK Toward dysfunction
- Add flexion
3-10y.o are perfect at the alphabet
muscles that elevate anterior rib 1&2
A nad M scalenes
other position to depress anterior ribs 1 &2
indirect position for T1 or T2 FRR
muscles that pull ribs 3-10 inferiorly
serratus and intercostals
TP Locations for Posterior ribs
on angles of ribs
how does patient move the scapula out of the way of Posterior ribs TP
have patient pull the arm across the chest
OR
drop the arms off the table sides
PR1 TP location
Posterosuperior aspect of Rib 1; lateral to the costotransverse articulation
PR2-10 TP location
Posterosuperior angle of the rib at medial border of scapula (about 2-3 inches lateral to midline)
Posterior Rib 1st Tx (elevated 1st rib Tx)

- Add slight Extension
- Slightly Sidebend Away
- Moderately Rotate Toward
balance tissues at the level of the dysfunction
Posterior Rib 2 Tx

Pt. seated or supine or other creative position as needed.
- Flex head
- Sidebend & Rotate the trunk/neck Away
balance tissues at the level of the dysfunction
Posterior Rib 3-10 Tx
FSARA
- support arm of side of dysfunction on top of your knee.
- grasp shoulder or brace head
- sidebend and rotate head or torso away
tip: this elevates the affected inhaled rib
