WHAT IS IT?
this invloves the insertion of a catheter into the heart via the femoral or radial artery or venous system and manipulating it within the heart and great vessels,
indications for CC
Coronary artery disease: to assess the conary vessels and graft patency.
Vulvular; to assess the severity and theraupeutic vulvuloplasty
congenital heart disease: diagnostic to look at vessels and therapeutic ( septostomy and balloon dilation)
pre procedure check
1.consent
2.brief examination and history- peripheral pulses, bruits, anerysm.
3.investigations: FBC, u & E, lft, clotting screen cxr and ecg
4.iv access
5.NPO AT LEAST 6 HOURS BEFORE PROCEDURE
TAKE ALL MEDS BEFORE PROCEDURE
POST PROCEDURE CHECKS
PULSE, BLOOD PRESSURE, ARTERIAL PUNCTURE SITE
