Define carcinoid syndrome.

A

Carcinoid syndrome occurs due to release of serotonin (5-hydroxytryptamine) and other vasoactive peptides into the systemic circulation from a carcinoid tumour. A carcinoid tumour is a neuroendocrine tumour.
