Carbohydrates/Lipids/Fats Second Phase. Flashcards
1
Q
What are monosaccharides?
A
Monosaccharides are the individual molecules (monomers) that build carbohydrates. They include glucose/fructose/galactose.
2
Q
What are disaccharides?
A
These can be formed from two monosaccharides.
3
Q
glucose + fructose -> 🌼
galactose + glucose -> 🌸
glucose + glucose -> 🌺
A
🌼 Sucrose.
🌸 Lactose.
🌺 Maltose.
4
Q
What are carbohydrates?
A
Organic molecules that all contain carbon/hydrogen/oxygen and are all referred to as sugars.
5
Q
What are lipids?
A
Lipids are energy dense organic molecules that all contain carbon, oxygen and hydrogen. Solid lipids are fats and liquid lipids are oils.
