Imipenem + Cilastatin

A
  • Carbapanem
  • Cilastatin inhibits a dehydropeptidase that normally metabolizes imipenem (→ increased levels of imipenem and prevents generation of nephrotoxic metabolite)
  • Imipenem resists most β-lactamases
  • Side effects: nausea, vomitting, increased risk of C. diff infection
