Giving permission for something to happen.

The ability to make a decision
What 3 factors are required for someone to have capacity
- Ability to understand and retain information (recall info)
- Ability to use and weigh up information to make a decision
- Ability to communicate decision

- Encourage the adult to use residual capacity

What is power of attorney?
Appoint someone to look after your welfare/finances when you are unable to do this for yourself
